TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1.2. Except for community services volunteering activities - which require prior authorization from the Ministry of External Relations, work authorization by Ministry of Labor is required prior to visa application.

1.3. An emergency visa V may be promptly granted, with a duration of 30 days, under very exceptional circumstances. The Consulate General will consider such applications when it is evident that the applicant's immediate presence in Brazil is essential to remedy emergency and/or unforeseen situations. The nature of the situation must be clearly and concisely spelled out on the employer's letter; routine services obviously do not qualify for this type of visa. The Consulate General otherwise informs that such emergency visas, even under the most exceptional of circumstances, cannot be granted more than once in six months.

1.4. Interns and volunteers are prohibited from holding any paid job in Brazil.

1.5. For extended stays (a minimum of 6 months) the same type of visa can be issued to immediate family members. Those are, however, prohibited from engaging in any paid activity in Brazil.

1.6. Medical or dental services can only be provided, on any circumstances, once the proper authorization by a Conselho de Medicina is issued.

1.7. First arrival in Brazil must take place within 90 days from the date the visa was issued.

1.8. This visa is good for multiple entries within the visa's duration. If necessary, a visa extension may be issued by the Federal Police in Brazil, if requested at least 30 days prior to the expiration of the authorized stay (special requirements apply). However, a visa granted under the waiver procedure identified above will have a validity of not more than 30 days and will not be eligible for an extension. Internships and medical residence visas are not eligible for extension either.

1.9. Whenever the planned stay exceeds 90 days, registration with the Federal Police in Brazil is mandatory within 30 days from first arrival in the country (together with the passport, you must submit the original visa application form that will be returned to you by the Consulate once the visa is issued).

1.10. Brazilian nationals must enter and leave Brazil with their Brazilian passport only.
