1. REQUIREMENTS
ELIGIBILITY
1.1. The applicants must travel to Brazil under the following conditions:
- business, except when the trip involves the provision of services (in which case a Vitem V is mandatory);
- media coverage or film making;
- flight/ship crew members without an international crew card , except if working on ship operating along the Brazilian coast or inland waters (in which case a Vitem V is mandatory);
- adoption of a Brazilian child; and
- participation in a trade/industrial exhibition.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1.2. Temporary Visa I I holders are prohibited from having any paid job in Brazil.
1.3. Temporary Visa I I holders are prohibited from engaging in any activity that involves the provision of services in Brazil, including intracompany, and even if not paid in Brazil.
1.4. First arrival in Brazil must take place within 90 days from the date the visa was issued.
1.5. This visa is good for multiple entries within the visa's duration. Please note that even when the validity of the visa exceeds 90 days, authorized stays are for a maximum of 90 days per visit (if necessary, an extension may be obtained with the Federal Police in Brazil, if requested prior to the expiration of the authorized stay; special requirements apply).
1.6. Citizens of Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Ecuador, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Monaco, Morocco, the Netherlands, Norway, Paraguay, Peru, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Suriname, Thailand, United Kingdom, Uruguay, and the Vatican) do not require a visa to enter Brazil on a business trip provided that the stay does not exceed 90 days; travel does not involve journalistic activities nor film making; and travel is not for the purpose of adopting a Brazilian child.
1.7. Brazilian nationals must enter and leave Brazil with their Brazilian passport only.
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED AND PROCEDURE
1.8. One visa application form per applicant (Download here: Word_Format or RTF_Format), properly filled out (first and second pages) and duly signed, together with the following documentation:
- passport with a minimum remaining validity of six months (it must also have at least 2 blank pages available for visa stamp);
- for non-Canadian returning to Canada, copy of Permanent Resident Card or valid Canadian visa allowing for re-entry into Canada;
- for non-Canadian without a Permanent Resident card or valid Canadian visa, valid visa to country of final destination after trip to Brazil (this requirement does not apply to applicants returning to country of citizenship);
- one recent 5x7cm passport-type photograph of applicant, showing entire face (must be front view) in white background. Snapshots and computer pictures are not accepted;
- as applicable (requirement does not apply in the case of adoptions), applicant's business card and letter from the employer or sponsoring company in two copies on their letterhead stationary and signed by a senior manager - briefly introducing the applicant and clearly stating the precise nature of the business and activities to be conducted in Brazil;
- Photocopy of the round trip itinerary, with flight numbers, dates and places, or copy (we do not make photocopies) of the ticket to Brazil. The Consulate will also accept a signed letter from the carrier or travel agent, on company letterhead, with the name of the vessel, itinerary, dates of arrival and departure, to and from Brazil. Iteneraries or copies of the tickets must be presented at the time of the application;
- in case of film making of a commercial nature or documentaries about Brazil, copy of prior authorization by the National Cinema Agency – ANCINE (please check all the requirements for filming in Brazil in English, Portuguese or Spanish in the ANCINE’s website www.ancine.gov.br);
- as applicable (for journalistic activities or film making in Indian reserves or environmentally protected areas), copy of prior authorization by the competent government agency, Fundação Nacional do Índio – FUNAI/National Indigenous Foundation) (please check their website www.funai.gov.br);
- as applicable (for the purpose of adoption of a Brazilian child), appropriate documentation required by law;
- Yellow fever vaccination certificate, as applicable, i.e., if applicant traveled within the last 90 days to any of the following countries: Angola, Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Colombia, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Ecuador, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, French Guiana, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Guyana, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Panama, Peru, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Suriname, Tanzania, Togo, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda or Venezuela. Please note that yellow fever vaccination is advisable if applicant's destination in Brazil includes any of the following States or regions: Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Federal District, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima, Tocantins, south of Piauí, west and south of Bahia, north of Espírito Santo, northwest of São Paulo, west of Paraná, west of Santa Catarina and west of Rio Grande do Sul.
- k) appropriate visa and legalization payments, as applicable.
1.9. The requirements listed are not all-inclusive. When processing a visa submission, the Consulate may request additional information/documentation.
1.10. Except for business activities, all supporting documentation must be notarized. Documents that are not originated in Brazil must be authenticated by the Consulate. Copy of Brazilian supporting documents must be notarized by a Notary Public (“Cartório”) in Brazil. Original Brazilian documents do not require notarization.
CONSULAR FEES
1.11. The consular fee for a Temporary Visa I I is of Cnd $108.00, which must be paid by means of money order or certified cheque to the “Consulate General of Brazil in Toronto”. Cash will not be accepted.
- Bearers of american passports will have to pay an additional administrative fee of Cnd $234.00.
1.12. The Consulate will accept visa submissions by the applicant in person or by a third party, acting on his/her behalf – an extra fee of Cnd$18,00 (eighteen dollars) must be included.
1.13. The Consulate cannot recommend travel/services firms and makes it clear that all of them receive same identical treatment by the Visa Section of this Consulate. It is wise therefore to shop around and compare costs in case you use a travel/services firm. Minimum processing time is 10 (ten) business days, assuming all requirements are met. This does not include mailing time.
PROCESSING TIME
1.14. The minimum processing time is of 10 (ten) working days, not included the days used by the services provided by Canada Post.
APPLICATIONS BY MAIL
The same requirements above apply plus a pre-paid and self-addressed envelope (only Canada Post “Xpresspost”, “Priority Courier” or “Registered Mail” will be accepted) and a processing fee of Cnd $18,00 per person (money order or certified cheque payable to the Consulate-General of Brazil in Toronto).
