As per Normative Resolution # 68, of December 7, 2005, a Temporary I visa is applicable to persons going to Brazil for voluntary work with religious or social assistance organizations in Brazil. In addition to the general requirements (see Visa Eligibility on www.consbrastoronto.org), this visa specifically requires the presentation of the following original documents:
- Letter of Invitation from the organization in Brazil, stating the condition of voluntary (no remuneration whatsoever shall be paid);
- Document characterizing the place where services will be rendered and description of the activities that shall be performed;
- Affidavit from the organization in Brazil pledging responsibility for the financial support of the candidate and his/her return to the country of origin (Canada) upon completion of the mission:
- Proof of health insurance valid in Brazil (copy of original policy or detailed receipt proving purchase of such insurance. Letters from travel agents shall not be accepted).
- Record of Constitution of the organization in Brazil, such as any of the following: social statutes or records of designation of the current board of directors;
- Proof of the registration of the organization in the corresponding council of social assistance (national, state, municipal or the Federal District, accordingly);
- Proof that the organization is functioning regularly;
- Written official statement from the organization appointing the applicant for the designated mission as a volunteer, signed by a duly authorized representative;
- Police report showing that the candidate has no criminal records;
- Two (2) application forms forms filled out by the applicant;
- Two (2) 5 x 7cm photos (Brazilian passport-size);
- Visa fee: Money order for CDN$ 108.00 (one hundred eight Canadian dollars), plus CDN$ 18.00 (eighteen Canadian dollars) if submitted by third party or by mail;
- Self-addressed pre-paid envelope from Canada Post (Xpress Post or Priority Courier), for the return of the documentation;
- Passport valid at least for six months from arrival in Brazil.
