One of the main functions of the Consulate General of Brazil in Toronto is the assistance to Brazilian citizens, resident, domiciled or in transit in the jurisdiction under its responsibility, so that the Brazilian citizens are protected by the principles of the Brazilian Constitution, do not undergo discrimination for their condition as foreigners or Brazilians, are treated with equity by the local authorities and, in spite of their immigration status, have full access to the consular services.

In the event of disasters, natural catastrophes or other emergency situations of serious alteration of the public order, Brazilian citizens will also be assisted.

Brazilian citizens under criminal charges or detained in correctional institutions will also be assisted and will have full access to the consular services.

Brazilian citizens in a difficult situation may also request assistance for repatriation (see form Repatriation Request ) as long as they prove to be in economic distress, as well as their family in Brazil.
